Our Mission

Named in memory of Grandma Betty (pictured)

Grandma Betty’s Animal Rescue is a non-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to assisting cats and dogs through its rescue, foster, and adoption activities. We find loving homes for unwanted, abandoned, homeless and abused animals. Grandma Betty’s mission is to save as many of our pet companions lives as we can. This includes providing resources and guidance to independent rescuers as well as supporting local shelters in Southern California.

During the pandemic we witnessed an increase of abandoned pets at local shelters, and a high volume of adoptable pets being euthanized weekly. The alarming rate at which shelters are becoming overcrowded is what led us to spring into action, and our rescue operation has only continued to expand since.

Animal shelters are completely overcrowded, underfunded and current legislation needs to change. In 2024 the ASPCA found that 920,000 shelter animals are euthanized annually, and 390,000 of those are dogs. Animal shelter euthanasia statistics show approximately 13% of dogs who enter shelters are euthanized, while 65% are adopted. California is also one of the top 5 states contributing to 44% of shelter animal euthanasia across the nation. This must change.

To save lives, we need the assistance and support of our community — now more than ever.
